Getting here

The campsite lies on Preikestolvegen, the road from Jørpeland to the Preikestolen trailhead, about 45 minutes from Stavanger. Address: Preikestolvegen 97, 4105 Jørpeland.

By car from Stavanger

Take the Ryfast tunnel (Ryfylketunnelen) from Stavanger towards Tau and Jørpeland, then follow the signs to Preikestolen. Driving time about 45 to 60 minutes. The tunnel is tolled: roughly 95 to 120 NOK per passenger car in 2026, considerably more for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, charged automatically by number plate.

Coming from the south (E39 from Kristiansand), the scenic alternative is the Lauvvik-Oanes car ferry across the Høgsfjord: about 10 minutes, frequent departures, around 140 NOK per car, then Rv13 north to Jørpeland.

By plane

Stavanger Airport (Sola) is about one hour away by car. Rental cars are available at the airport. Buses run from the airport to Stavanger city centre, where the Preikestolen buses depart.

By bus

In season, Pulpit Rock Tours runs buses from Stavanger to the Preikestolen trailhead via Jørpeland, and Go Fjords runs an express bus. Tickets are sold online in advance. Ask us at reception about the shortest way from the campsite to the trailhead by bus.

From the campsite to the trail

The trailhead is 4 km up the road. You can walk, cycle, or drive to the Preikestolen car park (P1), which charges about 275 NOK per car per day and does not allow overnight stays. That is the reason many hikers sleep here and drive up in the morning.
