Preikestolen Camping is a family-run campsite in Ryfylke, south-western Norway, four kilometres from the trailhead to Preikestolen, the most famous hike in the country. Pitch your tent, park your caravan or motorhome, and be on the trail in the morning before the day-trippers arrive.
There is no need to book ahead - the campsite is large, with plenty of room for everyone. Arrive between 12:00 and 17:00 in high season for the best choice of pitch. Hot showers and Wi-Fi are included in the price, and pets stay for free.
Season 2026: 27 March to 31 October. Check-out 11:00.
4 km to the trail
Sleep here and start early. Overnight stays are not allowed at the Preikestolen car park, so this is the closest bed to the mountain.

Reception hours are posted at the entrance. Restaurant and souvenir shop open in high season.
No reservation needed
Just come. In July and August, arriving between 12:00 and 17:00 gives you the best choice of pitch.
Activities
Most guests come for one mountain. Stay a day longer and the Lysefjord, the fjord villages and Stavanger are all within reach.
