Frequently asked questions
Can I book a pitch in advance?
No. We run first come, first served, and there has always been room. In July and August, arriving between 12:00 and 17:00 gives you the best choice of pitch.
Do you have cabins?
No, only pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes. Cabins and rooms are available in Jørpeland and at the Preikestolen trailhead.
When is check-out?
At 11:00. If you want to hike in the morning and leave afterwards, pay for an extra night or talk to reception.
Is there a kitchen?
No communal kitchen. There are uncovered grill posts on the site, and the restaurant in the reception building is open in high season. Bring a camping stove.
How many showers are there?
18, with hot water included in the price. In peak weeks they are busiest between 8 and 10 in the morning; early risers and evening showerers rarely queue.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes, free across the campsite.
Can I get electricity?
Yes, on many pitches, 120 NOK per night. Bring a CEE (blue) plug adapter.
Can I sleep in my motorhome at the Preikestolen car park?
No, overnight stays are not allowed there. The campsite is 4 km from the car park, which is why most hikers sleep here.
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, free of charge, on a leash. Dogs are also allowed on the Preikestolen trail, on a leash.
What about rain?
It rains here; that is why it is green. The reception building gives shelter in season, and Jørpeland with its cafés is five minutes away. Bring good rain gear and a tarp if you are in a tent.
Are there quiet hours?
Yes, from 23:00 to 07:00. Many guests leave very early to hike; please pack quietly and keep engines off until you drive out.
Can I pay by card?
Yes, cards are accepted at reception.
